Sarwat Kaluby, Owner, Kaluby’s Dance Studios
Mr. Kaluby started dancing at the age of seven in Cairo, Egypt at the Academy of Art and was classically trained by the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow, and the Kirov (Mariinsky) Theatre in St. Petersburg where he received his BA and MA in Choreography. Mr. Kaluby received the Bronze Medallion in the “Second World Competition” in Japan and has danced with many ballet and ballroom companies including: The Paris Opera House, The Metropolitan Opera House and the American Ballroom Theater. He has owned and directed seven dance studios and five major championships including the very successful Jacksonville studio located on Southside Blvd, Kaluby’s Dance Club. Mr. Kaluby coaches and choreographs for some of the world’s leading couples and is also a world renowned adjudicator and examiner. Students achieve excellence at Kaluby’s Dance Club where they are taught by some of the best instructors in the business and offered expert coaching by Mr. Kaluby, himself.
Michael Schroeder, Manager, Kaluby’s Dance Studios
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mr. Schroeder grew up in the musical theater. By the age of 18, he had appeared in over 60 musical theater productions. In 1987, he relocated to Orlando, Florida where he was introduced to the Ballroom dance world through a theater “gig.” Michael began teaching ballroom dance for an independent studio in Longwood, FL and within 6 months was offered a teaching specialist position with Fred Astaire Dance Studio, Winter Park. He received exceptional training, and coaching from world dance champions, he was actively competing professionally in the American Latin division. Following eight years with FADS, Mr. Schroeder was hired as a dancer/entertainer with the Walt Disney World Corporation. While he enjoyed entertaining millions of guests at WDW, he realized his true love was teaching! Mr. Schroeder returned to the industry in 1999 with the Arthur Murray Dance Studios, Winter Park. During his tenure with AMDS, Mr. Schroeder held the title of AMDS TOP MALE TEACHER in the state of Florida, as well as placing among the TOP TEN AMDS TEACHERS in the world, for six consecutive years. With his teaching success, Mr. Schroeder began sharing his skills as a Corporate Teacher Trainer. Mr. Schroeder has managed studios in Orlando & Tallahassee, as well as his own Independent Dance School from 2012-2017, and is an active Pro/Am competitor. He has received numerous TOP TEACHER awards, most recently at the Jacksonville Star Ball in March 2017. Mr. Schroeder is forever grateful to the multiple mentors for the first class training and is thrilled to bring his knowledge, skill and 25+years experience to Kaluby’s Dance Club!
Allyson Frankiewicz, Administrative Assistant
Allyson is the “face” of Kaluby’s Dance Club and was born in Western North Carolina, moving to Honduras where she learned Spanish which she considers her first language. She returned to the United States at age 8, with her family. Allyson graduated from Smokey Mountain High School where she was actively involved in the school show choir & school musicals including, Guys & Dolls, Hairspray, Oklahoma, Pirates of Penzance, How to Succeed in Business & Disco Nights. She has appeared at Carnegie Hall, New York City, with the Smokey Mountain HS show choir, where Allyson was a featured soloist. In June 2016, Allyson relocated to Jacksonville, FL with her parents and two brothers. She is thrilled to be part of the Kaluby’s Dance Club team, and enjoys speaking with all of the students and watching them develop into beautiful dancers!
Kadrit Juur, Dance Instructor
Kadrit is a professional dance instructor with 25 years in the business. She is also a professional make-up artist and hairdresser with multiple European certifications who offers her expertise to those competing on the ballroom dance circuit. Born in Estonia, she began as a gymnast at 3 years of age and while she very much enjoyed being a gymnast, she noticed the lovely dresses involved in ballroom dance as a young girl and quickly developed a passion for the sport. Throughout her teenaged years in Estonia she competed for and won many national competitions. Kadrit continued to develop her craft and was soon recognized for her incredible professionalism on the competition circuit first as a competitive dancer and then as a dedicated and talented instructor. She is certified in American Style Ballroom and Rhythm, Night Club, Latin, Social, and International 10 Dances. In 2004 Kadrit came to America to share her knowledge and love of the ballroom with eager students in the United States. Kadrit (who sweetly tells her students to just call her “Katie”) provides her students with excellent instruction and her positive attitude and quirky sense of humor mixed with her patience and exceptional knowledge continues to produce students who consistently dance away with trophies and medals at competitions all over the nation.
Brianna Vergo Attlesey, Dance Instructor
At the age of 16, Brianna began as a student at Kaluby’s Dance Club and attended First Coast Classic as an observer. While watching the amazing competitors and spectacular performances of the pros she felt the alluring pull of the ballroom floor and knew she wanted to dance competitively. She advanced quickly with her instructor and began dancing at showcase events and competed at Jacksonville Star Ball where she won first place in all of her single dance events. Brianna began college and was offered the opportunity to join the danceWORKS Repertoire Company at Florida State College at Jacksonville where she traveled and performed many styles of dance including ballet, hip-hop, jazz and even a traditional African Rain Dance for three years. Brianna became an instructor with Kaluby’s Dance Club in 2014 and quickly earned her Certification in American Smooth and Rhythm. Brianna’s love of life and dance, along with her gregarious personality, and easy teaching style make learning from her an exciting and incredibly enjoyable experience.
Marcio DeSouza, Dance Instructor
Originally from Joao Pessoa-Brazil, Marcio DeSouza received his early training at the Pallavolo Ballroom Dance Company where he had the opportunity to tour in Brazil. He then attended Parana Faculty of Arts and Quaira Ballet School. Marcio moved to Europe and danced with CeDeCe (from Portugal), where he performed in Spain and Portugal.
In 2002, he moved to the US to attend summer dance (ballet) programs at Harvard University and Jose Mateu School During the Harvard program, Marcio was invited to dance with the Anna Mayer Dance Company where he stayed for five consecutive seasons. In 2007 Marcio returned to his first love in dance, Ballroom and Latin, with more knowledge and even greater passion to share. Marcio has received the Top Teacher Award in major US Competitions since 2008, is a former Professional Nine Dance Competitor, and is certified in all four styles. In 2011 a dream came true for Marcio and his wife, Saori Desouza, when they started their own school: Dancesport Academy of New England! In less than 2 years, they received the Top Studio Award and became one of the top Ballroom and Latin Dance Schools in the Boston Area. Marcio is new to Kaluby’s Dance Club, but obviously not new to the Ballroom Dance world where he is Ranked in The Top 20 Teacher Pro-Am DanceSport Series.
Germine B. Amadis, Dance Instructor
Born in Carolina, Puerto Rico, Germine was raised in the Dominican Republic. Mr. Amadis instructs classes in a wide variety of dance styles including; Cha Cha, Rumba, East Coast Swing, Bolero, Mambo, Salsa, Bachata, Hustle, Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango and West Coast Swing. He started dancing professionally in 2015 as a dance entertainer at Gloria Stefan’s Bongo’s Cuban Café. Germine is an active ballroom dance competitor, competing throughout the United States in both the Pro/AM and Pro/Pro categories. He has participated in the United State Dance Championship (USDC), Millennium DanceSport, Triple Crown Competition Series, First Coast Classic and the World Latin Dance Cup Competitions.
